Daily Grief

Hi everyone-

Thought I would take a moment to share a little bit of what has been happening this summer.  It has been really busy-  Seems like sometimes we take on a bit too much.  In May we had Relay for Life- Nikki's Angels did awesome raising over $8000 for the American Cancer Society. Way to go.  In June we volunteered at a Hope Kids event.  That was a lot of fun.  In July we did the Walk for WIshes.  We were able to raise a little money there as well to help make more wishes come true for some great kids.  Then in August we had the Remembering Our Children picnic.  More people attended this year and we had more supporters as well.  It was a good time with a great balloon release and music.  If you can mark it on your calendar for next year.  The first Saturday in August.

Now in October our new grief group starts  Many people who have become friends are on there first year anniversary's of losing their children.  A very difficult journey.  Many emotions that we all face.  Know that we are here for support as needed.  The grief does not go away unfortunately- how can it.  We love and miss our kids everyday they are not with us.  Remember that.  What we are able to do is better manage our grief as the years go by.  More like controling it.  It still will sneak up on you when you least expect it.  It will be unbearable- or we think- some days but we will get through them.  Hold onto those precious memories on the tough days.  Look back at pictures, share stories and just talk about your child.  I think it helps.

We are now working on getting our Emile ready for her final year of high school and college to come next fall. It will be an busy year.  One that I know will also have some hard times knowing I never got to share and make these memories with my Nikki.

I will always love both my girls whether together in body or not.  Hold onto what you have and hug the kids you can or each other.  Sharing is the best way to get through the tough time.

Thanks so much for listening and feel free to share.
